Japanese Paper Place - Konnyaku Powdered Starch - 50g

Made from Devil's Tongue root (AKA Konjac)!  Sounds crazy right, but this starch allows you to transform washi (from Japanese Paper Place) into something exciting!!

The Konnyaku treatment is a traditional technique in Japan that can increase paper’s durability and flexibility, without losing its charm. You can make your own Momigami (crumpled/kneaded paper), Kamiko (paper clothing), or it can be used as a durable art surface.

Stiff and sturdy or soft and supple, the possibilities are many with this amazing paper treatment. Konnyaku gives the paper textural memory, strength and water-resistance.

And in case you were wondering, Yes, you can use Konnyaku starch on a wide variety of papers, not just traditional washi. While designed to add strength, water resistance, and a fabric-like texture to Washi, it works well with most non-starched papers.  It's a fun one to experiment with!
