This sketchbook features Monet's 1899 painting of the bridge which spans the water lily pond of Giverny. Claude Monet (1840-1926) bought the house in Giverny in 1893 and composed the garden to paint it. During the summer of 1899, he created several paintings of this bridge in all its forms and in all the lights. The painting is now on view at the MET, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
